REVIEW OF THE WEEK: The Blonde

From it’s beginning lines – “I poisoned your drink” – this is one, non-stop thrill ride.  As Jack drinks at the airport bar in Philadelphia, an attractive blonde leans over to tell him that she’s slipped poison in his drink.  If he doesn’t do what she says, he’ll die without the antidote.  The other main character in this hilarious action thriller is a professional hit man, who is assigned to find the blonde and discover why she’s been killing so many men.  The engrossing sequel to The Blonde is the short-story, The Redhead, which is also contained in this volume. This was one of the most enjoyable reading experiences of my summer. I’d heard a lot of buzz about Duane Swierczynski, and I’m glad I finally read one of his books.  Next on my list is his earlier thriller: The Wheelman.
